Each Thursday afternoon we have started going to the Junior side of the school and buddy reading with Mrs Chhin and Room 5. We love going to see our buddies each week.
Today some very special visitors arrived at George Street Normal School. Eight students, their principal, teacher and tour guide made an adventurous journey from Japan. Our ten visitors are from our sister school, Gifu Shotoku Gakuen. They are spending a three day visit at our school hosted by Model 1A and Model 1B. During their time at George Street Normal School, the Gifu students will be involved in the normal classroom programme as well as experiencing lots of fun learning activities in and around Dunedin. Today we warmly welcomed our visitors with a special assembly and an important document was signed to ensure that our international friendship continues into the future.

MY PONY
She is the one who lets me ride her. I took 4 photos of her. She is special to me and soon she is going to be my sister's. She's also the beautiful one.

I am interested in polar bears and how they hunt when there is not enough food for them to survive. I found out that polar bears wait for a seal to come to a breathing hole. Then with speed like lightning, they grab the seal. They have excellent camouflage for their environment and a very keen sense of smell. They can smell a seal through a metre of ice (roughly) and prey up to 20 miles away. They have very long sharp claws to grasp their prey, and strong jaws to rip, bite and hold their prey. They are also massive animals.
This is my second favorite toy, the trampoline. I like it so much because you can bounce so high on it. I can do flips and I'm trying to bounce higher then my sister, Kaiya. Most of the time me and Kaiya go on the trampoline we play with each other and when we are finished we are laughing so hard we can't stop.
Neve shared news with us today about all her adventures at the farm. She was busy chasing chickens, playing with calves and riding her beloved pony, Velvet.
Manu's Mum found a very cute little hedgehog and brought in home in her hat to show Manu. They named the hedgehog 'Lenticchia'. Lentichhia stayed at Manu's house for a while until they released it back into its natural habitat. Manu was sad to see his new friend go. Manu took lots of great photos of the hedgehog. Here they are...
