Today Aziz shared his learning commitment goal with us.  He has been researching information about the Albatross and this is what he has found out:

The albatross is large specie of sea bird. There are about 21 different kinds of species. The first Albatross was brought in 1798. The Albatross wings are 3.5 meters long including the tail. It is easy to recognize and identify Albatross because he has long, narrow wings, a large head and a long strong bill which is hooked at the end, there are three toes on each of the Albatross feet with webbed skin between each one and also Albatross has no behind toes.
All kind of species of Albatross are mainly spread throughout the southern pacific. Albatross spend their entire lives gliding above the waves and are known to fly 1000’s of miles in a very short time.  During the breeding season, Albatross comes back to dry land to nest on cliffs, rocky island inside Antarctic Tundra.
The Albatross practices a flying ways called as dynamic soaring, this means Albatross uses waves to give extra lift for longer periods of time. He also has good eyesight to snap fish from the surface or sometimes even diving into the water. Albatross also has excellent sense of smell, this allows them to detect their breeding grounds even in the dark.
The Main thread to Albatross is people and tiger sharks especially for young Albatross when the chicks are learning how to fly. The interesting thing is every year the tiger sharks come to the same place where Albatross chicks are practicing flying and gliding ways.
I hope you enjoy my learning commitment. Aziz (Room 11)

Well done to Keziah who entertained the class today with her fantastic gym routine.  You can watch her below:

At the moment we are learning about shapes in maths.  For our optional extra for homework this week we could create our own 2D or 3D robot.  Here is a picture of Olive sharing her cool moving robot!

Well done to Rose who shared her learning commitment goal with us this week.  Rose's goal was to work with a buddy to complete a project of her choice.  Rose shared a wonderful powerpoint about the SPCA.

Ellie's learning commitment this year was to share a gymnastics routine with the class.  Here is a movie of her doing her routine.  Fantastic moves Ellie!
