Today we watched an amazing show by the talented performer Bernard Mangakahia. The show focused on celebrating Polynesian cultures including Native American Indian, New Zealand Maori, Hawaiian and Samoan. Bernard talked to us about the importance of family, challenges and pride. We were spellbound watching his amazing dance and performance skills. Many children were invited onto the stage to join in the fun. We were very excited when Manu was chosen to try out the poi!
For her Learning Committment, Olive is volunteering at the Dunedin SPCA. She is a very kind girl and loves animals so she is helping the SPCA as much as she can. Olive has started her own blog to share her SPCA adventures. You can find it at http://dunedinspca2013.blogspot.co.nz/
On Friday we said goodbye to our College Teachers, Miss Cameron and Ms Stewart. They have been with us for the last two weeks and have provided the children with some fun learning activities.
Today Miss B's dog Poppy visited school. It was her third birthday today. She had great fun with all the kids and got lots of pats. Many of the children made Poppy lovely birthday cards and Olive gave Poppy a yummy bone! Everyone is looking forward to another visit from Poppy later in the year.
Today you could hear lots of cheers coming from Room 11! At the start of year we set a goal to try and reach 1,000 views on our blog by the end of the term. We did it (with two weeks to spare)!!!!
On Thursday, we celebrated 'International Day'. We dressed up in different international costumes and celebrated all the great cultures of the world. Here are some of our great costumes...
